Once the shakes had stopped and Sam wasn't going through major symptoms of withdrawal, he planned on keeping his word to Lana. He missed her, and having spent the last month as far from her as he possibly could - sometimes not by his own choice - he just needed to have her there for him.
The world was on it's way to ending, after all. And he wasn't going to waste time.
Which was why on a Friday morning, an Amazon.com box arrived at Lana's office. He had checked to make sure that she was in the office that day, then paid a delivery guy a few bucks to hand deliver it around noon.
In the box was a hex bag, meant to hide the bearer from both demons and angels. Ruby had taught Sam how to make them - her mistake, their gain - and they had a bunch of them made and in the Impala for protection. The one he had sent was strong enough to take her and a good mile in all directions off the radars.
With the bag was a typed note. Keep this on you. Don't open it. Leave work, pack a weekend bag, and follow the map. Reservation for Ms. Lewis. Wait in room. - S.W.
The Impala was waiting out of sight, planing on trailing Lana on her way to the meeting spot, just to make sure she wasn't followed by anyone but them. There was a motel just outside of Bazine, KS. Out of the way along the 96 where no one in their right mind would really go looking for them. And it should have only been a 2-3 hour drive for Lana at most if she did the speed limit.

As soon as the door was open, she almost tackled him, her arms going around his neck and clinging tight. Not that she didn't care about Dean, but she was pretty oblivious to him at the moment.

Up to and including amusement at how somebody so much tinier could have collected enough momentum to-- never mind. Overall, it was still an approving smirk. Er. Smile.
He waited out the initial burst of clinging, then cleared his throat. (Very original, what?) "Hey, Lana. You look - good." For some reason, 'you look fit' was about to leave a foul taste in his mouth, so he didn't do that. "I, um. Gonna go nextdoor? Holler if you need me. Or call. Or come over. You know." Since he might do his best to ignore some of the hollers that came from the other room. "Or if you want company when you're going out for food." Dean was always up for food.

He had missed her a lot.
But Sam did catch the smirk as he lowered Lana down a bit and looked at his brother. And he rolled his eyes appropriately. "We'll knock when we go get something to eat. I left you a roll of quarters on the nightstand in the meantime."
His arms didn't leave their spot around her waist.

She also didn't comment on Dean's smirk. It wasn't too hard to figure out. She had her own smartass sibling, after all. Instead she just smiled at him as she held onto Sam. "See you later, Dean."

He walked to the next door, unlocked it and grinned before slipping inside the room. "Bed looks in no danger of breaking easily. You two enjoy yourselves!" Then quickly out of sight before Sam found some missile to send his way.
Dean might get to the quarters later. Possibly. But for now, he opened the laptop and stacked up the next set of books to look into. There was plenty enough they didn't know about this fix, and reading up wouldn't come amiss.
So. Dean Winchester was digging into books and research while nextdoor, his brother was about to get up close and personal with a pretty girl.
Somebody out there must have a nice sense of irony.

And he was lucky that Sam's arms were occupied as he ducked into the room. So really, all Sam could do was sigh and give Lana the long suffering look. "See what I have to live with?"
Though Sam was grateful to be "living with" that again. No matter how much he might complain otherwise. For the record.

"You should smack him for that later." Lana didn't mind anything that Dean had said. That was just Dean and she was comfortable with it. Sam, however...sometimes he could be a bit uptight. Not that she couldn't be too. Just, she was being supportive of his uptightness.

He led her into the room, closing and locking the door behind him. He had already demon proofed the room, but he went to recheck the salt lines before sitting on the edge of the bed. He never once let go of her hand.
"I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to see you again."
no subject
"It's okay. I know it's going to be like this sometimes, not seeing or hearing from you for undetermined periods of time." And she did. Her heart and body would and did ache for him, but she understood. It was just how things were.

"What happened?"

He took a deep breath, and told her about what he really had been doing with Ruby. About what happened with him and Dean. Why he hadn't been in touch on his birthday. About their fight. About Lilith. Ruby. Lucifer.
By the time he was finished, he couldn't look at her, instead looking at the ground. He felt better in one way - he was trying not to hide things anymore and it felt good to air it out. However it also reminded him of how much of a puppet he had been his whole life, and how he had started the beginning of the end of the world.
"And I don't even know what we can do to fix this. If we can fix this..."

But she reminded herself it wasn't his fault. He'd made the choice, but he was manipulated, and well. She knew what that felt like. She'd felt stupid, but it was worse for him. On top of that, he had to deal releasing the Devil himself.
She couldn't find the words, so instead she just pulled him into a gentle hug. Words would come later.

"I screwed up, Lana. Big time. I should have listened to Dean. He was trying to protect me and I just... I should have listened."

"You and Dean will find a way to fix this. I know you will."

ooc: they still need that shirtless in the rain man fight"We have to. Otherwise... a lot of people are going to die because of this."

[ooc: I just saw that in my head. Stop it.]Lana looked at him with a worried expression. As much as she'd like to say she was worried about the fate of the world, she wasn't. Right now she cared about Sam and all the self-loathing that was brewing in that pretty head of his. She knew 'because of this' was really 'because of me'.

"So I guess this is probably the last time I'll see you for a while..." A long while most likely.

He stretched his neck a bit to lean up and kiss her gently.

"I need you, Sam," she whispered desperately. "I need you."
