Sam hoped Jo would be cheered up after a hard day of work to find the entire apartment covered in white twinkly lights as he had decorated all day to give a soft glow to their first Christmas together.

She stopped in her tracks when she saw the mass of lights and how her little apartment was transformed into something pretty.

Ford barked and bounded over to Jo, a pretty bow tied around his neck. Yes, Sam had even decorated the dog who was getting bigger by the day.

"Oh, look at you!" She picked up the dog and cuddled him.

Sam came out from the back room, having finished the little decorations there. He was wearing a Santa hat and a red sweater with his jeans, and he smiled at her. "Well, I see my evil plot worked," he commented, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.

She looked up from where she was cuddling Ford. "What evil plot? There's nothing evil about Christmas."

"Ok, well my good boyfriend plot on getting you to smile after a very long and hard day at work on the holiday."

She set the dog down and went over to him, getting on her tiptoes to kiss him. "Your plot worked."

He smiled and kissed her back, then let and arm wrap around her lightly. "I even got us some quick dinner which is keeping warm in the oven."

"I have the best boyfriend ever." She hugged him and cuddled a bit.

"Can I get you to put that down in writing for the days you're mad at me and throwing dog toys are my head?" He laughed.

"No." She patted his chest. "But you can hide the dog toys."

"No matter where I put them, Ford just drags them back out of hiding," Sam pointed out, shaking his head.

"So, are you hungry? Or you can just look around the house at the decorations?"

"What else did you do?" she asked, looking to see if there was more.

Sam chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well..."

He pointed at the livingroom, where Sam had covered the television with a red tablecloth, and on top of it was a small tree. It was just out of puppy reach, and there were a few presents under it.

She laughed and clapped her hands excitedly.

"You are so getting laid tonight!"

He laughed again. "Well, that wasn't my intention but hey, bonus." Sam grinned. "Of course, you have to wait until tomorrow to open the presents."

"Aw, come on, can't I open one now?" She pouted.

"Nope. Otherwise Santa will put you on the naughty list."

"Ooo, the naughty list, like I haven't been on that before." She rolled her eyes.

"Actually, after last week, you might already be on that list," Sam smirked and pulled away a bit, showing her back towards the bedroom to see what he had done there.

She followed, of course. "So, there's no harm in opening one right now."

"And what happens if you only have one present. Then you'll have nothing for Christmas Day."

He opened the bedroom door and Sam had changed the sheets and made the bed. The twinkly lights continued in the room, giving a soft glow as opposed the the harsh bulb from the overhead light. There were little snowflake stickups on their mirror and on the windows, and there was a little candy dish with candy canes on her side of the bed, and kisses on his side. He was notorious on munching while reading in bed, and thought she would like the candy canes.

There was also a big white teddy bear sitting in the center of the bed, wrapped in a bow and holding a box in it's hand that was also gift wrapped.

She had some clever retort about the gift thing but seeing what he'd done she sort of lost her breath.

"Oh Sam..."

It looked so nice and the effort he went to, she couldn't believe anyone would ever do something like this for her just to make her smile.

Sam stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her stomach and kissing her shoulder. "Merry Christmas, Jo."

She turned around in his arms and hugged him tight. "Merry Christmas, Sam."
