Sam was waiting at the bar down the street from the hospital Allison was working at. It wasn't late, but because of the time change it was already dark. He stood there under the awning, hands in his pockets and just waited.

Hoping that she showed up. Otherwise he would feel a bit like a fool. And Dean would totally make fun of him when he got back if she didn't show up. In fact, he was pretty sure the Impala would be parked across the street some time in the next hour with his brother watching with binoculars.

And of course, if he decided to have fun, then Dean would come in and find a way to embarrass his little brother.

God he hoped that wasn't going to happen.

"Well I'm still sorry, and I bet some of the things you do back aren't that bad?"

"Well I have one brother, older, but not too much, he is two years older than me. I haven't seen him in a long time, seven years I think? Anyway as far as I know he is still back in Minnesota with my parents. He hasn't got married, that I would know about. Other than that my family is pretty boring, me and my brother were really close like you and Dean, but not since I went to med school."

"I lost touch with Dean for a few years while I was in college. That time apart actually helped make our bond stronger."

"I'm sorry that happened, I know how it feels...although I don't think our bond got stronger while I was away..."

She looked away for a moment that back at Sam, hiding her thoughts with a small smile.

"So where is Dean now?"

Sam sighed and picked up his beer. "All I was told was he was planning on having an ice cream party with a friend in New York City. And I'm not asking questions."

"Dean does seem like another House though, as we have both noted, hopefully he is not headed here?" She rolled her eyes at the thought of House just randomly, and yet not so randomly, coming into this bar and coming over to embarrass her. She sighed and hoped Dean wouldn't want to do the same.

"Okay so who's turn is it?"

"I think I lost track," Sam smiled as the waitress came over to refill their drinks and leave them some chips to nibble on.

"Why do you stay here if House bugs you so much? There are a lot of great doctors you could work with..."

She smiled back at him and took another drink, then startd on a chip, not expecting the next question.

"That is a good question. But I think it's because he is actually good at what he does, despite the fact that he isn't the nicest person. You just have to get past that part." She said truthfully, she didn't want to get into the whole 'in love with him' thing.

"Time makes it easier, I guess."

He reached for a chip as well, waiting for her to ask next.
