likely_evil: (Remind me who I am)

He's got eyes that sing to me... remind me of childhood melodies...

Just for Bobby at the moment... others to join later...

They were in North Dakota according to the map that Alec and Dean had been looking at. There was something in the back of Sam's mind that found the town familiar. Little fireflies in his mind, wanting to guide him again.

Why were there fireflies in his mind? He always saw freflies, no matter where they went.

He had sat in the Impala after Dean and Alec went to bed because he was trying to figure this out when one big firefly came by the window, beckoning him to follow it. So he did, walking along the fields quickly as he tried to catch it.

When he was able to catch them, he remembered things. But the things he remembered with them would always fly away again. Out of his mind and into the wind. Not like the memories that Dean gave him.

He had a few now. Memory of a tape measure. Of a necklace. Small things and they were always of him as a kid. There were no adult memories. And Sam wondered why.

Soon, the firefly led him along the path to a junkyard. Sam could see all the magic here, trendils that wove a web in a white light. He was careful as he walked, not wanting to touch a single strand of it until he got to the door where the firefly had landed.

Sam tilted his head, reaching for the insect and wrapping his fingers around it roughly. Which on the other side of the door would sound like someone had knocked.

"Hard to say. Maybe a couple of hours." He was calm because panic wouldn't help. "He wasn't anywhere I could see when I went out around six." He held a hand out to stop what ever was going to fall out of Dean's mouth. "But that's not weird. He often does his own thing in the mornings and will sometimes be gone before I'm up."

"It wasn't strange until he didn't show up for breakfast. Which is why I got you up. His stuff is still here and there's not sign of a strugle."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
This was bringing up memories he honestly didn't want to relive. Not that he hadn't relived them every day for a year when Sam wasn't around as a demon, but now that he was just starting to get his brother back, he didn't want to lose him all over again.

"Could be any number of things," Dean said with a frown, getting to his feet and starting to pull his clothes on. "This is bad. We have to find him before someone else does." Unless someone else had already, and Sam's already halfway back to Hell again, because Dean couldn't do his damn job and keep an eye on his damn brother.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"It might not be that bad. I'm all for searching for his skinny ass, but he isn't stupid, or defensless." Alec got up and put a cinnamon roll in Dean's hand, because the man needed food and soon coffee.

"And it isn't like he's wearing a sign that says 'Hi, I'm a demon.' He's wearing one that says 'I'm a little squirrelly. Can you help me find my big brother?'" Alec had moved on to Dean's bag to fish out clean clothes for the man. He brought the clothes over and looked Dean dead in the eye. "We'll find him."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"He may not be stupid or defenseless but that's the problem. He gets caught by hunters, what sign he's wearing isn't going to matter. They'll trap him and they'll send him back to hell. They won't care."

He went through the motions of whatever Alec was giving to him, getting dressed and then taking a bite out of the cinnamon roll. "He probably wouldn't have gone far -- it's not like he has anywhere else to go."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't even imagine why a hunter would be looking for him ro notice him. He hasn't done anything to draw their attention." Alec was now writing notes on hotel stationary saying basicly. that Sam should sit his skinny rear down and wait for them if he finds one of the notes. He'd leave one on the motel door and one on the windsheild of the Impala.

"Do you want to split up or stay together? You can't take the Impala. All we have is my motorcycle."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Cover more ground if we split up," Dean sighed heavily. "The sooner we find him the better -- just keep the phones on that way we can get in touch with each other quickly if we need to."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
He nods. His phone was always on anyway. You start here and I'll start at the other end of town? There's a book store and such."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds good," Dean nodded, before shrugging his jacket on, slipping his phone into his pocket before heading out the door. Hopefully, if he did wander farther than he should have, he went to someone familiar who wouldn't react adversely when he told them he was Sam Winchester, the demonic version.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Alec was right behind him and locked the door. Sam didn't need a key to get it. "We'll find him. And then we'll tag him." It was only half muttered as he made his way to the motorcycle. He couldn't figure out why the hell anyone would want to hurt Sam anyway. Demon or not.

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Dean wandered his way through most of the stores and buildings on his end of town relatively quickly, and pretty much coming up empty. It wasn't until he arrived at one of the diners, asking around about Sam under the guise of getting himself a cup of coffee, and that was when he got the call from Bobby, letting him know exactly where Sam was. And that was like a wave of relief washing over him.

Feeling a lot more relaxed than he had been earlier, he sat down on one of the stools while waiting for his coffee, and punched in Alec's number, not wanting to wander all over town looking for him when he could just meet him back at the motel. He placed the phone to his ear and waited for it to ring, hoping to get the hell out of dodge as quickly as possible.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Alec was, in fact, standing in the local store that peddled cell phones to the masses. He'd almost passed the place by but then had a brilliant idea. He really was going to tag Sam when they found him. He slapped a large amount of cash on the counter to make sure this was quick and told the guy that he wanted a simple phone that would do text and had a GPS chip. Alec was going to have a serious talk with Sam about using the phone about calling his poor brother.

He was just waiting when his own phone rang. He answered without looking to see who it was. "Speak to me."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Bobby's got him -- somehow he made it all the way out there and actually knew where he was going." Dean wasn't sure how he'd done it or why, but he was just glad that his brother was in safe hands. "I'm heading back to the motel now to pack up the gear and I'm gonna head out as soon as I'm ready -- unless you want to come along?"

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh, hell yes I want to come along." He glared at the counter. How long could it take to get the phone? Seriously? "Just 'cause Bobby didn't seem to like me much doesn't mean I don''t want to check up on Sam. I'll Meet you at the motel. Shouldn't take me long to get back."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll be there," he said with a nod, before hanging up his phone, grabbing the coffee, and heading back to the motel. As soon as he got there he started to grab his things together, stuffing them into bags and getting ready to load them into the car.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Alec arived only a couple of minutes later. He often assumed that speed limits were more suggesions thatn rules. Sam's new phone was in his jacket pocket. He stopped the bike next to the Impala and headed for the motel room.

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Dean nodded to him as he walked in, getting ready to load the last of his bags into the Impala. "I'm ready to go when you are."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
He tosses his own stuff into his bag quickly. It rankled against his tendancy to be orderly, but this wasn' tthe time or place. "Let's bounce."

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean nodded before sliding into the driver's seat of the Impala and starting the car, waiting for Alec to toss his stuff in the car.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Alec put his bag in the back seat and closed the door. After that he got on his bike and pulled out of the parking lot behind the Impala.

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The drive wasn't a long one -- Bobby's was really only a couple hours from where they were, so it wasn't long before Dean was pulling up in front of the salvage yard and parking the Impala as close as he could to the house.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Alec pulled th bike up next to the Impala and cut the engine. He looked at Sam for a minute and then shook his head a little, utterly bemused. All that panic and here Sam was, just chillin' at Bobby's. He took his driving glasses off and folded them into his jacket pocket. "How, exactly, did you make it here?" He wasn't angry. Just curious.

[identity profile] maninflannel.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
(Sooooo sorry. Vacation = lost tags. Didn't know we were waiting on me.)

Bobby nodded at Sam's remark when he spotted the car. He watched both men step from the car and stood up. "I was wonderin' the same thing," he said.

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Bobby, I can explain -- " Well, no, he really couldn't but that seemed to be the thing to say at the moment. Instead he took a deep breath and turned to Sam.

"Next time you take a trip down memory lane, Sammy? Leave a note or something?"
