likely_evil: (Remind me who I am)

He's got eyes that sing to me... remind me of childhood melodies...

Just for Bobby at the moment... others to join later...

They were in North Dakota according to the map that Alec and Dean had been looking at. There was something in the back of Sam's mind that found the town familiar. Little fireflies in his mind, wanting to guide him again.

Why were there fireflies in his mind? He always saw freflies, no matter where they went.

He had sat in the Impala after Dean and Alec went to bed because he was trying to figure this out when one big firefly came by the window, beckoning him to follow it. So he did, walking along the fields quickly as he tried to catch it.

When he was able to catch them, he remembered things. But the things he remembered with them would always fly away again. Out of his mind and into the wind. Not like the memories that Dean gave him.

He had a few now. Memory of a tape measure. Of a necklace. Small things and they were always of him as a kid. There were no adult memories. And Sam wondered why.

Soon, the firefly led him along the path to a junkyard. Sam could see all the magic here, trendils that wove a web in a white light. He was careful as he walked, not wanting to touch a single strand of it until he got to the door where the firefly had landed.

Sam tilted his head, reaching for the insect and wrapping his fingers around it roughly. Which on the other side of the door would sound like someone had knocked.

Alec holds still for a long moment, the he let years of training and conditioning overcome everything else and sat his ass down. He understood that sort of bark in a voice. It didn't smooth away everything though. Alec didn't turn. "If I didn't have any respect for you, you'd know it because I would care about your rules at all."

His fingers flexed against the edge of the stairs. "You might as well have said you didn't want me here when you told me I could touch anything in the house." The tone is more sullen than anything else. Nothing could sulk more than a hurt cat. "How am I supposed to not take that personally?"

[identity profile] maninflannel.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Bobby shook his head. "Ain't personal. I don't know you and I got things in this house that ya might not know how to handle. Think I want you to get hurt?"

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Alec turns and gives him a cockeyed look. "Why would you care?" He's honestly confused. "Besides they were in a public place. If you don't want people touching things then why are they out in public places?" Yeah, confused for the win. "Besides, I can handle a whole friggin lot." That statement just sounded tired.

"They're in my home. A place that doesn't often see visitors. And I got no doubt you'd find my things no matter where I put 'em. I'm sure you can handle a lot, doesn't mean I won't try to keep ya from gettin' into trouble."

Alec is clearly trying to realign his mental boundry's of privacy. "Oh." Yeah it's clearly new to him that a person would treat an entire house they we he would treat his sleeping space. He feels the need to defend himself against the statement that he could find anything. "I could find things. But you don't touch things in other people personal space." He said it like it was an unwritten rule.

Bobby wasn't too sure about the kid, but could tell he was off - just like all of them. He watched the boy and nodded slowly. "Exactly. That's all it is. Nothin' personal." He leaned back in his chair and scratched his beard. "So you wanna not hate me now?" He even gave a hint of a smirk.

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Alec considered him. "Maybe." He shrugged. "Never hated you. I kinda reserve that, you know?" He sighed and turned so he was at least half facing Bobby. "Am I allowed to touch any of the books?" Because otherwise he was going to get boared here real quick.

"Some'a them. Long as you treat 'em with respect. Some, not even Sam and Dean get to play around with."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-07 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
He considers. "That seems fair." Alec shifted until he was sitting in a patch of sunlight and then he sprawled. "'Sides. I think Sam's got some tricks up his sleeves that he doesn't need your books for."

[identity profile] maninflannel.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Bobby sighed deeply. "Yea, that's what'm worred 'bout."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
"He'll be fine. We just have to remember not to keep him cooped up once he's back on his feet." Sam wasn't like Alloces. Alec was pretty sure that Sam would be happy enough playing human most of the time.

[identity profile] maninflannel.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Bobby nodded. He sighed. "Guess between the three of us, we can handle it."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
Alec shook his head. "I don't want him to need a handler. He. ." Alec didn't know how to articulate his thoughts and feeling on the matter very well. "Just because he's not human doesn't mean he needs a handler. No one needs to hold a leash on him any more than they do on me."

[identity profile] maninflannel.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Bobby watched Alec a moment, wondering what that had meant. He nodded, though. "I got no intention of anything like it."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He nodded. "Good." Having a handler to Alec meant someone was telling you what to do and was on hand to manipulate you into doing it. He wanted to leave that part of his life about as far behind as he could.

Bobby nodded and set his gaze back out to the yard.
