He had finished his debriefing and came home late at night. He was still a bit sore, hurting in a few places he'd rather forget how those injuries came, but the mission was a success and he even had a new friend out of the deal.

But right now all he wanted to do was just take a shower and then collapse into bed. He got the next day off to recoup, and he was pretty sure he would be sleeping through most of it.

He wasn't very quiet when he got in, tossing his keys on the table by the door and dropping his bag on the floor. He sat on the arm of the couch to pull his shoes off, his tie undone and jacket already hanging in the closet.

"I love you too," he said softly, then kissed her as his hands worked to carefully put the ring on her finger.

She finally really looked at the ring, wiping her eyes slightly. "Wow...good job," she glanced over with a smile.

He shrugged, suddenly not really needing the shower immediately. He was very comfortable where he was as he just held his fiancee in his arms.

"I saw it and it reminded me of you. I'm glad you like it."

"I haven't been able to say this aloud for weeks, but..." She closed her eyes. "We're going to have a baby." And it was actually starting to sound good to her.

"Yes we are. And he or she is going to be the cutest, smartest, and best defended baby in America."

"Bruce and Lloyd are not babysitting. Neither is Max. Just so we're clear." Happy now she got up and pulled him to his feet. "C'mon, you need to be looked over."

"I agree one hundred percent." He got up, moaning a bit at the stiff joints. "What I need is a hot shower or bath. I feel disgusting and sore."

She nodded, leading him to the bathroom. "Get a shower, I'll get the first aid kit. We'll meet in bed."

"Give me a half hour, and if I'm not out send a recovery team."

He squeezed her hand, then moved past her to the bathroom. The shower was on a few seconds later, hot steam escaping under the door while Sam just let the water flow over his body, relaxing it.

There had been plenty of fun shower times and there would be more. She had considered helping him, but she didn't want to hurt him. She got the first aid kit all set up, then sat down and picked up her book again.

Of course, his clothing was in the bedroom, and his suit was in desperate need of a cleaning, so he just wrapped a towel around his waist and padded out to the bedroom. There were a few bruises and scrapes around his body - the normal wear and tear Sam went through with his job - as well as the sets of scars he had from a lifetime of hunting, including a nice knife scar along his back spine.

"Think I can add on a back massage with the first aid treatment?" he asked, looking for a pair of underwear.

She raised a brow when he came out. "Course." She tossed her book down and slipped her reading glasses off. "Don't bother with the boxers." She waved him over.

"I should have known better than to even try." He sighed dramatically, but walked over and stretched out on his stomach on the bed. A pillow was grabbed and bunched up under his head.

She smiled and nodded. "Mmmhm." She pulled out the liquid band-aid and applied it as need. Then she grabbed some muscle cream and started applying it to his bruises, slowly massaging his skin as she went.

He closed his eyes and moaned softly. That felt good.

She continued working, moving to straddle the small of his back when she needed to.

"Times like this really remind me about how much I miss you when I'm on a case..."

She smiled. "Me, too." Then she stopped suddenly and sat up. A slapping realization had just hit her.

When she stopped he opened his eyes, turning a bit to look at her. "You ok?"

"They're going to desk me," she said blandly.

"Well... it'll only be until the baby's born. Then I guess we'll take turns."

He smirked a bit. "Once you start showing, Bruce and Lloyd will make sure you're always comfortable. Coming over to fluffy your pillows and bring you your meals."

She frowned. "But....I'll be so bored." Okay, so her frown was more of a pout.

"You'll probably be exhausted too," he pointed out, then rolled over under her. "And you're going to need all new body suits because you'll have to cover the baby belly. however I'm sure Bruce would love trying to invent you a bulletproof stomach vest."

She made a face and leaned down against him. "Don't even joke about that." She sighed. "The things I do for you.."

"But then you're going to have the fun of buying all new things for the house and clothing and decorating a baby's room." He stretched a bit under her before relaxing and loosely wrapping his arms around her.
