Application: [livejournal.com profile] mad_muses - Who would win in a fight, astronauts, or

Depends really on where the fight takes place. Are we sending the astronaut back into time to the pre-historic era? And what astronaut? Is it a guy who is all about his equipment, or was he in the Navy SEALS before he decided he wanted to go to NASA?

What if the caveman came to the present time? Are they like Brenden Fraiser cavemen from Encino Man or are they more like the guys from the Geico commercials?

Then it comes down to weapons. Hand to Hand? Cavemen have the advantage unless it's the Navy SEAL astronaut. Or it's the Geico cavemen, because I bet that lizard could take them on and win. If the astronaut has a gun, however, he wins hands down. But it would end up probably with the cavemen bowing down and worshiping them as a god or something.

Really, there's too many variables to make an educated answer on this question. Can I get another one?

Overthinking, Sammy. Overthinking.

And hey! It was a lame question.

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
....It's a fight. Between an astronaut and a caveman. What angles are needed?

So lame. They couldn't come up with a better pairing than that?

[identity profile] jstliketherifle.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, seriously. Even if they just went one-on-one, no weapons, I'd still put my money on the caveman.

Two words: Survival. Instinct.

Caveman has training! He hunts wild man-eating animals, dude, I think he knows how to defend himself.

Hey, if I was a caveman, I'd be more worried about the mammoth than the astronaut.

And even if the astronaut did know where to hit, a caveman would fight dirty. He doesn't know jack about rules of engagement. He'd probably take the guy to the ground before he realizes enough to fight back.

Uh-huh.

Still think there should have been ninjas.

Dude. Ninjas are way more awesome than pirates.

Interesting points, but I think you've put way too much thought into this.

[identity profile] oncehunted.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's good! You brought up things I wouldn't have thought of. Like the possibility of the astronaut having a gun.

[identity profile] oncehunted.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Do many Navy SEALS go on to become astronauts?

[identity profile] oncehunted.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs, placing her hand on top of his to stop him* No, that's okay. I just hadn't heard about that before, but I'll take your word for it.

There are worse addictions to have.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I think your answer is well thought out.

Of course this might be because it sounds like something I would say.

You're not. You should have seen what I wrote when I was asked what I would do if I (for what reason, I have no idea) woke up a man. There are so many things I'd have to know to answer that. Are we talking body swap like Freaky Friday? If so, which man? My ex? A dentist? President Obama? Or is it just I'm a male version of myself? Would that make me a gay man, or am I suddenly going to find myself attracted to my secretary?

I could go on, but I think I'll stop.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of variables involved, that's for sure. Maybe it's the type of fight the astronaut could like out smart the caveman in or something. You never know.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Right! I mean, how old is the astronaut? How fit is the caveman? Stuff like that!

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't think of that.

But! That made me think of another variable! Where's the fight taking place? Is it in space? Cuz, you know, the caveman would have no idea how to move around in zero gravity. And fighting in general in zero gravity would be pretty tough!

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah! That's another thing to think about. Is this caveman like a real historical one or like is he from a realm where dinosaurs co-exist with man? Cuz he could either use a dinosaur as a distraction or as a weapon.
