Calling Sarah Back: RP for
guiltybutclumsy
ooc: this is Sam calling Sarah back after getting this voicemail
It was a blast from the past, hearing Sarah's voice on his cell phone. it had been years since he had seen her. Months since he had really thought about her. They had tried to keep up by e-mail until, well, the whole FBI thing. He dropped off the face of the planet after that with almost all of his old friends.
Anna had mentioned that Sarah had been thinking about him and wondering where he was. With Dean being stuck... yeah, Sam had time on his hands for the next few days, so he could try and call her back.
Taking a walk and leaving Castiel to watch over Dean, Sam pulled out his phone and called back the missed number he assumed was hers, then waited for her to pick up.

"Just been a hard few days. Hopefully things will get better."

As Sarah listened to what was being said by Sam,she got up and checked that no one
was listening into their conversation,if Matty ever overheard what they were talking about
Sarah would have no idea of what to say to the little boy. He was now someone she'd grown to love as if he were her
own.
Once she heard Sam sigh over the phone her first instinct was to ask what was wrong but she knew she had no place
to ask him of that.So instead she waited for his response before she spoke with some advice of her own.
"I wish I could say or do something to make all this go away.I wish i knew what you were going through but I don't
but I think I get the jist of what your saying.I just wish you would have come to me, allowed me to help you and
Dean both.My home is always big enough for a few extra bodies. You and Dean need to know that you are always welcome
here...with me."
Whilst Sarah had been talking to Sam a cold chill had taken over the garden. With this going on she decided to go
back into the house to check on seven year old Matty. He lay in his cot, curled up underneath his favourite blanket.
She slowly moved a falling piece of hair out of his face and touched his cheek by softly trailing her fingertips
up it.She sat herself down waiting for Sam to respond with an answer.

He licked his lips and closed his eyes, remembering her in his mind. It had been 3 long years. "That's why I kinda fell off the map. It was just safer for everyone."

Laughing slightly,in a way to make sure that Sam didn't think she resented him for that. That emotion was never spoken when it came to the man she had grown to love as the times they spent apart grew.
"You definately made sure of that...Since you left, things...developed out of my control.I've been looking after this little boy and...he's not exactly normal...I guess he's like what you hunt but different. And i need to make sure that that little boy can wake up in the morning and know that the world is around him and for me to be able to support the ground he walks on."
Matty had started to toss in his sleep like he usually did before his nightmares began, with this Sarah walked over to him and picked him up and placed him in her lap.Rocking him gently, she tried her best to make sure Sam hadn't heard the cry of distress. But by the time she'd picked him up and swayed him gently he'd stopped crying and had been soothed back to sleep.
Whilst this all took place Sarah tried to remember the last time she'd even looked at a man with anything other than a passing interest and she'd realised the last person that had happened with was him.
"I'll tell you what I understand Sam.I know that when you left, you left with so much grace that I knew i'd met a man that was brave and courageous, that he did these outrageous things because of his comittment to saving the world.I guess I gave all that away when my face lit up in a way that I didn't think was possible.
After you left I can remember wiping tears from my cheek and saying to myself that i was going to try my best to push the thought of you out of my mind.It was a full blown job but it always came down to the same thing i'd end the day hoping that someday you'd find your way back to me."
Sarah moved slowly to her bedroom where she threw herself down on the bed and exhaled slowly.
"You can't push me away again,it hurt too much the last time...and I don't think I'm strong enough to go through that again."
Leaning aganst a pillow she sighed softly onas tears ran from her eyes, having nowhere to escape to.

Sam sat down on a bench in the park opposite the hospital, then rested his forehead against his hand.
"Since I've left, a lot of things have changed with me too. I'm... I'm not that guy anymore. Far from it."

"Honey..I wish I could say that I understand the things your going through. But your not the only one who's had to change due to the circumstances that have been laid upon them."
Taking a sip of wine, she propped herself on the pillow, crossing her legs at the ankles. Hoping that he'd at least consider what she'd been trying to get across to him.
"Sam,I'm not asking for commitment.I'm asking for a short visit.I have a few days holiday coming up.Please think about it.I just...I think I need to see you for myself. If you still feel the same way, then I promise not to call again. You and Dean both deserve a bit of normality in your life.I just wish I could be that for you."
As if noticing Sarah's disappearance,Matty had started to whimper. Her mothering instict took over and she made her way quietly down the stairs ready to comfort the crying child.

"Right now we're stuck in the middle of something. But... if it brings us up your way, I'll call and let you know, ok?"
