Once Sam was pretty sure that Brenda wasn't going to kill him or his brother in the immediate future, he stepped outside the room to get a bit of fresh air and let the two of them talk.

His phone vibrated in his pocket and he pulled it out. His calender was reminding him to text his location to Allison, who would be on her way down to meet him by now. Quickly he sent her the name of the motel and the street by text message.

He then went back to the office and got that second room, asking to leave an empty room between his and his brothers. There were things Sam had long ago deemed that he didn't want to wake up to, and his brother's sex grunting was high on that list.

Slipping a note under Dean's door about where he was going, he went into the room and sat on the bed. He turned the tv on, watching some dance movie on TNT while he waited.

Senseing the annoyed tone from that sentence, she figured Sam didn't like it when Dean barged into his life at times. "Good wouldn't want to miss what he thinks of me." She tried to make it sound like thinking of her as a friend, not anything else, but she had a feeling that Dean would think otherwise.

She could wait a little longer to sleep she supposed. "The diner sounds good."

He looked at her a moment. "If you want to rest, I can go get it and bring it back. You did just get here..."

He could see she was a bit tired.

She felt relief flow through her, although she felt bad because she didn't want to make him go get their food. But she was really tired. "That would be really sweet of you, I appreciate it."

She gave him his order and waited until he left to lay back on the bed.

Sam went off for the diner, grabbing them their food. He was walking so by the time he got there, ordered the food, it was made and he walked back, almost an hour had passed.

He had also stopped at the market while waiting for the food, getting some beer and snacks for the room. It was New Years after all. Midnight was not optional.

Finally he got back and opened the door quietly. "Room Service," he joked softly, looking to see if she was awake.

She jerked awake to the sound of Sam opening the door and making a cute little joke, she smiled groggily. She didn't mean to fall asleep, she was just so tired.

"Mmm..just what I need too."

He laid the food out on the table in the "kitchen" area of the room, putting the other food on the sink or in the fridge. "You want a beer?"

She got up from the bed and sat down at the table, she was hungrier than she thought. "Yeah that would be great, thanks. So how long were you out?"

He opened two beers on the side of the counter, then brought them over and sat down across from her.

"A little under an hour. I walked there and back. When I'm stuck in the car for long periods of time, I need to walk to feel blood back in my legs."

She smiled at him when he gave her the beer, she took a swig, not having had one in a while, it feels nice going down her throat, waking her up a little.

"I know the feeling. So how are you since the last time I saw you?"

He shrugged. "Been a lot of work. Had a few scary days but we moved past them. Nothing else really to tell."

"How have you been doing? That doctor, House, he been bugging you?"

"Well atleast you're okay, I'm glad of that." She smiled at him, even tough she didn't know what he did for a living, she was glad he ended up okay either way.

"I have been better, but I am good now. Had a rough Christmas, lots of people died in the ER because of what they did to themselves. Christmas time has one of the higher rate of suicides of the year. So I just had a rough time. House? Bugging me? That's not even a question, he does all the time and it won't change, so I just ignore it."

"I've heard that Christmas is a high suicide rate. Valentine's day too. That... kinda sucks."

Sam opened his club sandwich and took a bit. "But at least it's over with, right?"

"Yeah, but I should be used to it I guess...although I suppose I shouldn't, I mean you can't get used to something like that."

She took another drink of her beer and then took a bite of her sandwich, nodding to his question. "I'm glad I'm here."

"I'm glad you're here too. I'm not big on gambling, and Dean isn't big on shows, so we tend to just not have anything that we can do here together."

"Sounds like you and your brother have very different tastes as to what is fun. So what do you have in common?"

"There are days I actually wonder that myself," Sam said with a smile as he ate one of his fries.

She laughed at that and understood completely what he meant, her family was the same way, she sometimes wondered what they actually had in common.

She stole one of his fries and said "Thanks for getting dinner."

What is it with women who like to deprive him of his fries?!

"It wasn't a problem. You looked tired, so it was the least I could so after asking you to drive out this way."

She smiled at him and took another fry. She was flirting and she knew it, but tonight she didn't care.

"It's not like you forced me to drive out here, I did have a choice."

"I know you did. All the more reason to offer to get the food in thanks."

He held up his spork in defense of his fries.

"okay I'll let it go."

She laughed softly at his defense of the fries, she stole one last one quick and went back to eating her own food.

He made a half-hearted attempt to stab her, but really, it's a spork. Not going to do much damage anyway.

"So are you planning on staying in bed all night, or do you want to go look around and do something?"

She smiled, she did feel a bit more awake now that she was here, maybe the drive just wore her out.

"I would love to."

"And which of the two was that in reference too?" He gave her a flirty smile, just because.

She smiled back at him, knowing full well he knew what she meant he was just being flirty.

"I would love to go out and do something with you."
