The Name Game

ooc: AIM log with gusthemoose in the voice of Sam and Heather on choosing the names of their forthcoming triplets. They already have decided on Marie, and she mentioned Jessica for the other girl, and Sam suggested Lucas, which Heather doesn't like and so he's asking her to chime in.


Heather: I like the name Gregory.

Sam: *wrinkled his nose at that.* too old

Heather: Um... Joesph?

Sam: *shakes his head.

Heather: Daniel?

Sam: *whimpers*

Heather: James?

Sam: They just sound too plain.

Heather: I don't really mind plain, Sam.

Sam: *rubs neck because yes, he knows his name is plain, hense why he wants his son to have something different* Why don't you like Lucas?

Heather: I like Luke, but Lucas isn't really a name I've ever liked.

Sam: *sighs*

Heather: *puppy eyes*

Sam: *whimpers but goes back to looking through the baby book*

Heather: *rests her chin on his shoulder*

Sam: Elvis? *is totally not serious*

Heather: Uh no.

Sam: Evan?

Heather: Hm. I like Evan.

Sam: *puts a check put keeps looking* ...Shane?

Heather: No. And Shawn's not a favorite either.

Sam: ok... toby?

Heather: Reminds me of a dog I knew named Toby.

Sam: well... I kept from suggesting Lucky for the same reason...

Heather: I don't like Lucky anyway.

Sam: *suffering sigh*

Heather: *kisses his cheek*

Sam: *nuzzles* Zane? I'm at the end of the book here.

Heather: *chuckles* No.

Sam: I kinda want a variation of John if possible. I just don't want John.

Heather: What's a variant?

Sam: A name that another country uses in place of John. Zane, Ian, Hans, Ivan, Sean, Yvon...

Heather: I like Ian.

Sam: *hopeful* You do?

Heather: Yeah. It's nice. Simple but not simple.

Sam: *smiles* Ok. Ian then.

Heather: *smiles*

Sam: It's like... I want to name him after my Dad, but I don't want to give him John. The name John Winchester means a lot to a lot of people, and those are footsteps I don't want him to think he has to follow...

Heather: *runs her fingers through his hair* It's okay.

Sam: I'm... I'm also not really that comfortable with Jessica.

Heather: Okay. Any other ideas?

Sam: We already agreed on Marie. That's the name I like.

Heather: Marie and Ian.

Heather: How do you feel about Connie?

Sam: I like Callie better...

Heather: No, not Callie. Makes me think of California.

Sam: It's greek for beautiful

Heather: Yeah, but I don't want our daughter getting teased for being named after a State.

Sam: we could name her Caitlin and I can call her Callie...

Heather: Caitlin sounds so old fashioned to me.

Sam: And Connie sounds like someone's grandmother.

Heather: Murphy's first name is Connie. Well, Constanza, but she goes by Connie.

Sam: .... you never heard me say that.

Heather: Yes dear.

Sam: *just flips past the C's and the D's for good measure*

Heather: Joan?

Sam: of Arc?

Heather: Yes.

Sam: *shakes head* and you're worried about her being made fun of by sounding like a state

Heather: *laughs*

Sam: *smiles and laughs a bit too* Elsie?

Heather: Elisa?

Sam: Eliza?

Heather: I like it.

Sam: So she's be Lizzy

Heather: Or Liz. Whatever she wants to go by.

Sam: So Ian, Marie and Eliza.

Heather: Yes.

Sam: You sure you only have three in there? Cause I think if we have to name another it's going to come down to tears.

Heather: Yes, I'm sure. *rubs belly.*

Sam: Good. *turns around and hugs her*

Heather: *snuggles*
