Kale looked at Sam, lifted the side of his lip and growled a bit.

Sam put the bags down, then knelt down to be eye level with Kale. He locked eyes with the boy, and he returned the growl, but putting it deeper into his throat, showing the kid that he was the alpha in the pack.

Kale stopped, then backed up a step before pouting. "No fair," he muttered, then went to the sink to wash up.

Sam just stood back up, smiling.
