She was asleep. For the first time ever he had woken up to find her actually sleeping in his arms, and not pretending. It might have to do with the fact that they had both been exhausted from the battle they had fought the night before. Sam could feel the stiffness in his joints as his body reminded him he would need a few days to heal.

But it meant more to Sam. It meant that she was finally starting to trust him with more than just the battles. You didn't sleep with a weapon if you were afraid it would stab you in the middle of the night.

He looked down at her and smiled a bit. Dean was dead almost four months now. She sure as hell wasn't his replacement. Nor would she replace Jess in his mind. But it was nice to have someone that he could depend on by his side.

She opened her eyes, blinking lazily like one did as they fought their way back from sleep. Seeing Sam stare at her made her confused. "Sam?"

He just smiled, pushing some of the hair from her face before leaning closer and kissing her gently. "Morning," he whispered against her lips, then kissed her again.
